JSW Cement Ltd, set up a modern cement plant

INDIA : NEWS : JSW Cement Ltd, CEO and Director R C Sodani said that the company has set up a 5-million tonne (mt) modern cement plant at Nandyal, Andhra Pradesh, at a cost of Rs 1,500 crore. The slag is being supplied by the company’s steel plant in Karnataka. 

“Our cement unit is in production for the past six months and the market response has been very encouraging so far,” he said.

At present, the company sells slag cement in the southern states and parts of Maharashtra. It would reach other markets in due course of time, he said. He said the quality of slag is very high as the JSW steel plant in Karnataka uses modern technology. 

Sodani said the company has two smaller cement plants in Karnataka and the total capacity of all the cement plants in the JSW group at present is 5.2 mt.

The company has plans to take it up to 20 mt per annum by 2020 at an additional investment of Rs 5,000 crore. 

He further added that the group plans to set up more cement units in Rajasthan, West Bengal and also one near Gulbarga in Karnataka.
