Job Description

Shell Projects & Technology seeks to recruit a (Senior) Process Engineers Front End to join its Upstream Development team, part of our Global Solutions Upstream organization, in Aberdeen. 
  
As (Senior) Process Engineer Front End, you’ll be expected to carry out process engineering in support of Front End major upstream opportunities. The team in which you will work consists of Process and Concept Engineers engaged in Front End studies and consultancy level engineering skills to the business. Support is given to New Business opportunities, Exploration and other Shell customersto deliver the highest return on investment from their hydrocarbon opportunities by: 
  • Identifying and selecting the optimum facilities concept by working in and leading integrated discipline/business teams.
  • Optimizing the asset performance throughout its lifetime.
  • Finding innovative and cost effective engineering solutions that are integrated into the non-technical risks, to unlock reserves and to optimize and improve production capacities of the surface facilities.
The work usually ranges from very early lifecycle support (e.g. pre-Exploration drilling) to Concept Selection and delivery of a Field Development Plan. However, consultancy is also provided in Define and Operate parts of the project lifecycle, like debottlenecking and Well, Reservoir and Facilities Management. 
  
Projects are usually high profile, strategic business opportunities in complex business environments, the facilities capex of which are often in the range of hundred's to billion+ dollars. Such work requires our process engineers to play key roles in Integrated Work Teams (i.e. surface/subsurface, upstream/downstream) that may develop to leadership of such teams over time.

Desired Skills & Experience

With a MSc. or BSc. degree in a (Process) Engineering discipline and significant experience in the oil and gas industry in Process Engineering or in Front End Engineering, you’ll be able to demonstrate: 
  • a proven track record of running Front End studies.
  • the skills required to carry out conceptual engineering and optimization studies in order to defineengineering projects in terms of technical scope, cost execution strategy and duration.
  • the attitude to develop and be effective across a wider skill spectrum (technical, commercial and interpersonal).
  • good communication and interpersonal skills as you’’ll be operating across a wide spectrum of geographical and cultural environments with diverse Operating Units.
  • The willingness and ability to travel occasionally and work internationally
  
Preferably you’ll have both hands-on Upstream operating experience, as well as experience in the development of difficult hydrocarbons or CO2 related development work (EOR, tight gas, sour gas, CBM, CCS).
