Chief Engineer - AHTS (Nigeria & Ghana)

Job Location: Sharjah (Ash Shariqah-United Arab Emirates), Nigeria
Job Description: • Chief Engineer you will be responsible for the overall maintenance and repair of the vessel liaising with the onshore technical superintendent if required.
• Planning & Scheduling Maintenance program and ensuring that this is adhered to.
• Resolving technical faults and complained.
• Ordering, installing and testing of new equipments.
• Documenting maintenance reports and other general observations.
• Oversee the maintenance of the vessel in down time
• Motivating engineering crew to observe company policies, rules and regulations.
• Training engineering crew and mentoring them through the technical difficulties faced.
• Supervise and control all routine engineering and technical related correspondence, filing & Documentation on board.
• Issuing clear and unambiguous instructions to the watch keeping Engineers.
• Ensuring that the Master / Superintendent are kept fully informed of all engine room activities, conditions or incidents that may affect the operation of the vessel and that no major repair or maintenance is carried out without the approval of the Master.
• Monitoring all the necessary certifications like Hull, Machinery and others and ensure the same is up to date.
• Carrying out regular inspections of all spaces to confirm standards of operation and maintenance.
• Exercising control over ordering, storage and usage of technical spares and consumables.
• Responsible to maintain all old documentation of legal and or contractual nature in safe, accessible and easy to retrieve location.
• Ensuring all records, machinery log book, oil record book, manuals and technical drawings are updated and maintained in a correct and usable form.
• Maintain confidentiality & secrecy of documentations.
• Preparing Daily/Weekly & Monthly reports for the Management

Required Qualification • Marine Engineering Graduate. • Must have experience on EMD & GM Engines. • Minimum 10years’ experience in the similar role. • The ideal candidate will currently be working as Chief Engineer on board an Offshore Vessel. • Should have previously worked on AHTS VESSELS. • Chief Engineer must hold unlimited Certificate Of Competence (COC). • Prepared to work in the West Africa on a 18 weeks on; 4 weeks off rotation. • Should have knowledge & experience of EMD 645 / 567 Series & GM V8 - 71 • Physically Fit & Healthy • Must be a computer literate with experience in MS Office. • Requires a good Communication skill in English; both verbal & written..
