Position Descriptions
As a member of the Piping Engineering group you will also be an integral member of a project based team providing technical expertise to deliver safe and cost effective process plants. The key responsibilities of the position are:
•Implement assigned engineering work within the budget and project timescale
•Prepare engineering deliverables in accordance with Company processes, procedures, work instructions, departmental standards and current legislation
•Provide technical information in support of the project team
•Comply and ensure compliance with the company H&S and Environmental policies
•Attend technical design/project reviews to ensure compliance with customers needs and H&S and Environmental policies (Principal)
•Where required act as Lead engineer on specified projects / proposals in accordance with Company processes, procedures and work instructions (Principal)
•Participate in the development of project engineering budgets and schedules (Principal)
•Ensure discipline support to project manager, as well as timely cross discipline support
•Manage the scope of engineering work to eliminate cost / time growth. Identify any project scope growth and correctly document it and apply the company procedures for cost reimbursement (Principal)
•Identify project risk and address risk mitigation measures (Principal)
•Maintain knowledge of the latest standards, legislation, products and practices relating to the relevant engineering discipline to reinforce professional competency
Key Technical Skills Engineer
•Knowledge of Plant Layout principles and processes would be beneficial, but not essential
•Some experience at site during survey or construction beneficial, but not essential
•Familiarity with processes of Fabrication, Welding, Heat Treatment, Inspection, Testing, Construction, Cleaning, Drying, Purging, Painting, Insulation, where applied to piping items.
•Use and / or updating of Piping and valve specifications, Bills of material, and other piping discipline deliverables.
•Knowledge of European Directives and International Standards (BS EN 13480, ASME B31.3 etc).
•Familiarity with material grade selection using ASTM codes
•Familiarity with working in a multidisciplinary EPC environment.
Key Technical Skills Senior (In addition to above)
•Experience of high pressure (ASME B31.3 ch. IX) would be beneficial.
•Experience and direct responsibility for piping material requisitions, writing technical specifications from FEED through to Construction stages.
•Experience of piping material specifications (use of client spec and development from first principles), knowledge and application of commodity coding systems.
•Good working knowledge of ASTM and other international codes for materials selection.
•Good working knowledge of the practices of allied disciplines (layout, stressing) and ability to operate under own initiative with confidence
Key Technical Skills Principal (In addition to above)
•Substantial experience of complex material requisitions management, directing others in the development , checking and approval of requisitions, specifications and datasheets.
•Client facing and personally / technically competent to directly address client-related issues within the contract requirements.
•Lead engineer or other more responsible technical role.
•Substantial / expert knowledge of key technical skills listed above.
